Could Allistair (Roger Rees) from Episode Six be Moriarty?

SPOILER ALERT

Today TVLine gave a slight spoiler to the season finale of Elementary:

As Sherlock reels at the reappearance of his former lover, Irene Adler (Natalie Dormer), a series of flashbacks unravel the tumultuous events that led to his downfall into addiction. Meanwhile, he and Joan once again find themselves in the crosshairs of the enigmatic Moriarty.

As we remember from episode 6, Roger Rees' character Allistair helped Sherlock during his downfall after the death of Irene Adler and was the first to tell Watson who Irene Adler was. The episode mentions flashbacks to those days and it would only seem fitting that Allistair returns again. This would give Elementary fans who have not watched episode six a chance to know who Allistair is and still a shocking (although not as shocking as watching it all the episodes) twist to who Moriarty is?

Just incase for any new readers: some of these posts are from my other blog and are really old. I thought I would bring them over so people can see what I have speculated.

Is Aaron Ward Elementary's Moriarty?

The following scene is from way back in episode 4 “Rat Race” of Elementary. In the episode, Joan Watson is setup on a blind date with Aaron Ward by a friend of hers.

At around 1:24 seconds, Watson receives a text message from Sherlock Holmes saying, “YT? ND U ASAP.” It appears normal but if you look very closely when the camera shifts to Ward walking back from paying for his drink, you also see Ward checking his phone with one eyebrow raised, which he continues as he looks at Watson’s phone. A raised eyebrow means, in most cases, that the raiser of said eyebrow is interested in something. Now what can he possibly be interested in? The answer is Sherlock Holmes of course.

Now, why ask Watson what Holmes text abbreviations mean? As seen in episode 12 “M.” Moriarty uses coded text messages to his henchman. Could he possibly be thinking that Holmes too uses coded text messages to Watson?

Another key “hint” is that the camera is so heavily focused on him and what he is doing. The director of this scene wants us to see what Ward is doing and even though Ward looking at his phone only happens for a brief second it is important that we see it. If Ward was an unimportant do you think this much emphasis is needed on a person paying for a beverage in a scene so early in season 1 and 8 episodes away from the first Moriarty namedrop? Hardily.

Later in the episode, Watson is seen on another date and this time Watson knows that Ward was married before. I do not have the clip for this but I will summarize it for you. When Watson first arrives Ward asks Watson how she found out he was married. Watson brushes the question of and instead turns the focus to Ward and wants explanation. He answers that he married someone that was seeking refuge in the United States. Ward, right after he tells Watson his story, asks again how she found out he was married and the scene ends.

Now why would Ward, even after telling his story to Watson, ask twice on how she found out about his marriage. Also seen from episode 12 Moriarty knows Holmes is, indirectly, pursuing him. Could Ward be starting to panic that Holmes found out who he is? Possible.
Now I could be wrong but one cannot deny that the character of Aaron Ward is interesting and brings off a very weird vibe.

Also, Found this ironic after posting it. In the letter Moriarty gives to Holmes in episode 12 he states: "You are a mouse chasing a lion." Now think, what was the name of this episode again?

Speculation on Episode 12 Titled "M."

From my IMDb account.

Is Candis Cayne Elementary's Ms. Hudson?

Synopsis of episode 19: Sherlock tries to help a transgender woman who is recovering from her latest break-up.

Top picture: Ms. Hudson: … giving me time and space to figure that out.

Do I even need to tell you the definition of help to figure that one out?

Top Picture: It says “that the map is laden with…” something.

Middle Picture: The map is ladened with locks.

Now originally it said that that segment of the script was to be a part of episode 20. If you remember episode 19’s first synopsis was originally supposed to be about Milverton which latter became episode 20.

To me, this all but confirms Candis Cayne is Elementary’s Ms. Hudson.

Irene Adler Speculation

Before we begin, this scene takes on a new meaning if you read the Sir Arther Conan Doyle story "A Scandal in Bohemia." It could be nothing but my job is not to write about nothing, it is to find the smallest things possible and expand upon them because you know what the classic Sherlock Holmes quote says:
"Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."
In this article I will not speculate whether or not Irene Adler is alive but rather speculate on what happened in London with her and Sherlock Holmes. I will mention this; however, regarding if Adler is alive: she was the first woman ever to fool Holmes in the Doyle canon (chronological mistakes aside).
I noticed two very interesting instances regarding if Holmes and Adler were actually a couple in episode 12 "M." The first is when Sherlock is getting his supplies ready to go out and torture M. Holmes talks about how before Adler came into his life he found woman boring. When Joan Watson says that Holmes was in love with Adler, he blankly stares at her almost saying "no" or "I don't feel love." The second instance is when Holmes is questioning M. about Adler and M. responds asking if the two were a couple. Again, Holmes does not respond.

As we know, Adler was the first woman ever to fool Holmes in Doyle's canon. Could the love Sherlock have for Adler be a different type of love? Could the letters Adler sent Holmes be full of boasts on how she beat Holmes similar to the letter she sent Holmes at the end of Doyle's short story "A Scandal in Bohemia." Holmes could very well be "in love" with Adler, not because of her femininity, but instead with the fact she fooled him and proved to be on an equal scale in terms of intellect. In Doyle's short story, it is shown that Holmes, despite what people may say, loved her in the sense of the way I speculated above. (Doyle) Holmes kept a picture of Adler and also denied ever feeling the emotion of love similar to that of the Elementary Holmes.

Elementary: Moriarty vs. Holmes

Its been a few weeks since the Moriarty namedrop and anticipation is high. So, inevitably, Sherlock Holmes and his archenemy Moriarty will meet one another. It has happened in almost every Sherlock-Moriarty centered episode or movie, the two sit down and have a civil conversation with ominous overtones discussing the future of Sherlock if he does not back down to Moriarty; however, I don’t expect this to happen right away. Here are a couple of things I speculated when thinking of this inevitable first meeting.

First and foremost, Sherlock will be full of anger when he encounters Moriarty. The amount of emotion Sherlock will either hide or display will be obvious. This is about revenge for Sherlock knowing Irene Adler was killed(?) by Moriarty. The amount of emotion Holmes will have will be similar to that of what we saw in episode 12 “M.” when Sherlock thinks Moran was lying to him. This will not be your average Sherlock versus Moriarty battle. Second, going back to the emotional duress Sherlock will be under as Moriarty’s first few games pick up, Holmes will loose round one. Now do not think “loose” as in the sense you think of when someone looses by 3-2 in a baseball game; instead, Sherlock will walk out from his first encounter with Moriarty as a beaten man and Moriarty will walk out of it with the thinking he has beaten Holmes and will consider him weak and insignificant. It will be Holmes job to rebound from this lost and beat Moriarty in future seasons. Last point, expect new and old suspicious characters to be in future episodes.

As we have seen with Aaron Ward and Allistair, expect new characters built in the same suspicious manner. Hopefully they bring back Ward and Allistair again in small roles and bring new “Moriarty Suspects” in so when the big moment when Moriarty is given a face, even if he is a new individual character, its all the much better.

Who is Allistair?

In episode 6 "Flight Risk", a person from Sherlock Holmes past makes an appearance. His name is Allistair but at first Joan Watson thinks he is the father of Holmes. After Watson finds out he is not Holmes' father but instead was hired by Holmes to act as his father, she storms out. Later in the episode, Watson begins to question how Allistair found out about a tattoo on Holmes' wrist that covers a scar from when Holmes broke his wrist as child (there is a deeper story to the tattoo but I provided the video above). Watson tracks down Allistair to a book store and questions who he is. Allistair reveals that he is a friend of Holmes and that when Holmes' when on a drug binge, he went to him uttering the name of Irene Adler. So of course after this episode, speculation began on to who he was.

Holmes only trusts certain people and Allistair is, supposedly, someone he does trust. Now there is many things that point to Allistair potentially being Moriarty; for example, like how he works at a book store and this could be alluding to the professor but that seems too easy. Now what if Allistair is the brother of Holmes instead. Allistair appears to know a lot about Holmes' childhood and who else would Holmes trust to act as his father and go to when suffering through a dark time, Mycroft. Another small clue at this is that Allistair even provides a small "brother-type" joke at Watson when asking about "the shagging" between Holmes and Watson. Also, during the scene where Watson and Allistair meet in the bookstore, Allistair seems like he really cares for him. He looks like he is beginning to cry and shown signs of a deep brotherly love for Holmes.
