Elementary: Moriarty vs. Holmes

Its been a few weeks since the Moriarty namedrop and anticipation is high. So, inevitably, Sherlock Holmes and his archenemy Moriarty will meet one another. It has happened in almost every Sherlock-Moriarty centered episode or movie, the two sit down and have a civil conversation with ominous overtones discussing the future of Sherlock if he does not back down to Moriarty; however, I don’t expect this to happen right away. Here are a couple of things I speculated when thinking of this inevitable first meeting.

First and foremost, Sherlock will be full of anger when he encounters Moriarty. The amount of emotion Sherlock will either hide or display will be obvious. This is about revenge for Sherlock knowing Irene Adler was killed(?) by Moriarty. The amount of emotion Holmes will have will be similar to that of what we saw in episode 12 “M.” when Sherlock thinks Moran was lying to him. This will not be your average Sherlock versus Moriarty battle. Second, going back to the emotional duress Sherlock will be under as Moriarty’s first few games pick up, Holmes will loose round one. Now do not think “loose” as in the sense you think of when someone looses by 3-2 in a baseball game; instead, Sherlock will walk out from his first encounter with Moriarty as a beaten man and Moriarty will walk out of it with the thinking he has beaten Holmes and will consider him weak and insignificant. It will be Holmes job to rebound from this lost and beat Moriarty in future seasons. Last point, expect new and old suspicious characters to be in future episodes.

As we have seen with Aaron Ward and Allistair, expect new characters built in the same suspicious manner. Hopefully they bring back Ward and Allistair again in small roles and bring new “Moriarty Suspects” in so when the big moment when Moriarty is given a face, even if he is a new individual character, its all the much better.
